More Cards!

Hello,
I have a few more cards to share. I try to use the OWH sketches whenever they are posted and I have fallen a bit behind but here is a great sketch and I used an adorable Penny Black stamp that I received from the super generous and kind JoAnn Ross.

I am really trying to go out of my comfort zone- and playing along with Less is More is really stretching things for me. I posted a card the other day but it really did not have white space like the LIS folks promote- so I am trying again and trying to embrace that less truly can be more! This forced me to use an embossing folder- one of my most neglected tools!  Lessismoore.blogspot.com

And another site I am being motivated by is http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/ where there is a sketch for this challenge.

And can you stand one more card (OK-2)? Over at Cards in Envy the challenge is to make a card for a friend. http://www.cardsinenvy.blogspot.com/2014/08/best-of-friends-challenge.html
I made 2 cards....and I like them both for different reasons. I love the MFT die of all the people holding hands and I inked 2 of the pals with gold ink-friends are more precious than gold! And I like distress ink panel on the birds card.

And I am excited to say that my eagle card was chosen for the top 3 over at The Male Room.  I struggle to make masculine cards so this site is so inspirational- I love looking at all of the cards created for each challenge!

Less is More Sketch

Hello!
I am enjoying what may be the last of the summer weather; the sun is nice during the day but I enjoy the cooler evenings. I adore the fall and have pulled out a few of my fall and wintery stamps.
This week I decided to play along with a sketch challenge from
http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/

I used an adorable image from Sweet n Sassy Stamps titled Snowy Hello. The papers are by Fancy Pants Designs, Winterland 6x6 paper pad and the gems are by Queen and Co. The image is colored with Copic markers and I used Hero Arts Silver Shadow Ink for the snowflakes.

I also made a card for Operation Write Home's mid-month throwdown-  http://operationwritehome.org/mid-month-throwdown-gratitude/

I used Elizabeth Crafts Peel Off Stickers for the outlines of the pumpkin and the leave and put them on DCWV glimmer paper-- this stuff is great- it does not rub off or flake!  I colored the images with Copics; the colors come out more muted over the glittery paper. While the copics blend differently on this than regular paper- it is much prettier than the picture shows! The pumpkins look splotchy-and they are much nicer in real life!  It is hard to photograph the paper!  I have to lay down the color and then add the next color on top- rather than using stokes of color. I like the effect and it comes together quickly!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week,
Diane

Sugar Pea Designs Sketch SPDSS09

Hi all,
I am amazed that I have not posted since July 10th!  Summer has been very full, fun and hectic! I have found little bits of time to create but not time to post. I am hoping to get caught up this week... we will see!

I have 2 sets of SugarPea Designs stamps and I have several more on my wish list! You can check out the blog at  http://sugarpeadesigns.com/blog/
Here is the sketch- and you can also find it at

And here is my card using one of their super cool images!

Over at the Male Room   http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/
A pretty crazy challenge.... use pink in a card for guys.  Hmmmm, this got me thinking. I have been playing more with my distress inks so I figured I would try a sky scene and except for the die cut stars- this would have been a one layer card- something hard for me to achieve! Once I added the stars, I ended up with 3 mats.  Try this challenge and go see what the DT came up with-great inspiration!

And I would never forget about OWH!  Sandy is asking for less cards so we can all take our tine and try to create mini-masterpieces! There are less contacts to send boxes to (yahoo- this is a good thing!) but we will continue to create cards for our troops until they are ALL home!
The OWH August ODBD challenge is to create a card with stars.

I used the DCWV glittery paper- the glitter does not come off- even when cut! Love that I can use it on my OWH cards! This one will be a Hero card!

That is all for now and I hope to post again-very soon!
