OWH VCMP!

I am warning you... this is a long post! This weekend is Operation Write Home's Virtual Card Making Party! Every 2 hours from 8am til 6pm for 3 days challenges are posted!  You can check out all the great ideas at:
http://operationwritehome.org/vcmp-master-list/

The first challenge on Friday, Sybrina got us off to a great start... create 2 cards from an OWH sketch-1 for a gal, 1 for a guy! I used sketch #100 and images from Paper Smooches.
                                      100

#2 Michelle wants us to make a Thank You card...and I flunk the bonus because I do not have spray inks- but I am OK with that! I used OWH safe glitzy paper by DCWV.

Challenge #3: Paper piecing for kids!
I adore this Mo Manning image...I printed the camo paper, then printed the image over the camo paper, then cut the uniform and hat!    http://a2zscrapbookingblog.com/2014/07/04/virtual-card-making-party-with-owh/

#4 Lori challenged us to make a birthday card- using red, white and blue. I purchased this stamp and matching die when I was at Absolutely Everything last Sunday- taking a class with Sandy. And rumor has it she designed this set-- so cute and fun!!

#5  Next up- create a background using inks or 5 different papers.
I used a metal Spellbinders stencil and 3 shades of distress ink to create the circle background.  I am using my distress inks more lately- and really liking them!

For the final challenge on Friday, JoAnn came up with another great one- make 2 cards-1 with typical Christmas colors and the other one with colors so it can be sent anytime during the winter. I picked up this trio of snowmen at the stamp show in June-and I have not idea who makes it- sorry! I am not liking the placement of my snowflakes in the Christmas card- I think I need to move the middle one to create more of a visual triangle.

I had to angle the card so the glitzy DCWV paper would show in the photo.
I completed all of the Friday challenges and have a few of the Saturday inspirations done.....I am hoping I can make time to participate in all of the challenges! I enjoy this VCMP- I feel I am pushed to try something different!
Hope your holiday weekend has been wonderful and remember to thank those who made this land of freedom and opportunity possible!
Diane

  1. You have really managed your time much better than me. I haven't got around to making one card yet for the weekend. You have come up with some brilliant cards here. I love each and ever one of them, but of course any thing with a snowman in it melts my heart so I have to say they are my favorite. Hope you get to make some more cards so we can get to see more of your creations. Enjoy the day.
    Hugs,
    Donna

  5. Woweeeeeeeee! You've been super busy and really did a fabulous job on all your OWH Cards! I played in a few of the challenges and also in some "non" OWH challenges, but did NOT get this many cards done! Way to go Diane --- great to see you again too! Please let me know the next time you plan to go to AE for a class, and then I can try and plan to meet you there, so we can create together!!
