Today is my mother's 80th birthday! I know I am fortunate to still have her with us- we lost my Dad in 2004...so celebrating another year is a true blessing!
This week's OWH sketch is great! I love the versitility...I can see showcasing gorgeous papers and a fabulous sentiment--I think I will use this one often!
I decided to get an early start on my winter/Christmas cards... really- I just wanted to ink up these cute stamps from denamidesign.com. I purchased them at the stamp show last week. They are so cute and make me smile- so I am hoping they will bring a smile to one of our dedicated servicemen...and then make a loved one smile when they receive the card...cute chickies spreading the smiles!
I used copics, Recollections Festivus paper pad, crinkle ribbon colored with a green copic, stamp from Simon Says Stamp (Kristina Werner's handwriting-love it!) and some small red gems to complete my card.
I plan to use my stash of Christmas papers this summer and if I use it all....
#1 it will be a miracle
#2 only then will I allow myself to buy more paper!
Aside from adhesive, I do not anticipate needing ANYTHING for the rest of the year- so I am going to try very hard to refrain from purchasing more stamps, paper, etc. I have a lot of wonderful items that I really want to use. This card used all older goodies in my stash aside from the cute stamps! And yes- I have more stamps from the stamp show that I will share as I create the cards! But-no new purchases! Really. It is true. I am going to shop my own store...my closet!

My car is repaired and I picked it up Friday afternoon! I am so very pleased with my insurance company and with the repair shop. If anyone lives in the Boston area and ever needs collision repair done- I will gladly share the name. They were kind and respectful, they did a fabulous job, my car looks great, and they kept me informed along the way.
I hope to share more cards later in the week- 2 of my nieces came over the other nite and we had a dinner and a movie night- but also spent time coloring and making cards! Tessa is already a great cardmaker but I think we got Paige to drink the kool-aid--- she has such an artistic flair...she got the hang of Copic coloring in about 5 brush strokes! She really got into creating a card from start to finish!
Have a fantastic week-and yes- please-craft on!
Diane
I love your Christmas card! I like the rounded corners. Kinda puts Me in the mood to start in on Christmas. Well, maybe not quite yet. :) sorry to hear about your car boo-boo. Hey, do they make a card for that? :)
ReplyDeleteCute I like your take on the sketch...esp the circles!...It hardly feels like summer yet so I am not feeling like making any winter cards yet...tfs!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, those little chickies are adorable!!! Such a great card using them, and a very happy birthday to your dear Mom too! My car goes into the body shop tomorrow after a big tree branch fell on it while driving home a few weeks ago. Hopefully I'll have a good experience like you did :)
ReplyDeleteGood idea starting the Christmas cards now and I wish you luck with only buying adhesive. I try but it's hard...there are too many cute supplies out there.
ReplyDeleteWish I could be so organized! The pop of the yellow fluff adds so much to the card!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are never to early to start Christmas! Good card to do it on. I liked where you placed the ribbon and those reindeer chicks very funny! Keep us informed with the no new stuff rule , on that is going! I will have to visit here for my rehab :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute card! I love the chicks, so fun and playful. great choice of papers to coordinate with the chicks! TFS!
ReplyDeleteLOL at the "drink the kool-aid" thing. I do not have anyone to craft with me, so I envy the fun you had! Glad you got your car back and had a good experience there. On to the card...I LOVE it! The paper is yummy and those little chicks are just too cute. I really, really need to do a "no new supplies" thing, but I can't seem to convince myself that I really don't need more paper.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Christmas card! The chicks are too cute and I love the little bits of bling scattered on the background!
ReplyDeleteI had NO IDEA that your mom's birthday was June 9th - my dad's is also! He was 70 on Sunday! Hope you had a nice day with your mom and love that you are using your new goodies!
ReplyDeleteomg I had to giggle - I say `drink the kool-aid`all the time! lol! Happy birthday to your lovely Mom!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the Christmas paper...I am not brave enough to stick to number 2. Number 1 I have covered, though. Love those little chickies :)
